“An Emerald Evening” Daddy–Daughter Dance Launches in the Heights
New community event partners with Girls on the Run Greater Houston to empower local girls and strengthen Houston families
Houston, TX — [November 24, 2025] — A meaningful new family tradition is coming to the Heights community in 2026. An Emerald Evening – A Daddy–Daughter Dance will take place on February 21, 2026, at SPJST Lodge 88, celebrating the special bond between fathers (and father figures) and their daughters. The event combines an unforgettable night of connection with a powerful cause: supporting Girls on the Run Greater Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering young girls through confidence-building, leadership skills, and healthy relationships.
The inaugural dance is designed to become an annual Heights tradition—one that brings families together in joyful, meaningful ways.
“When families feel connected, communities grow stronger,” said event organizer Jimmy Donovan. “An Emerald Evening isn’t just a dance—it’s a celebration of the relationships that shape our children and our neighborhoods. Partnering with Girls on the Run Greater Houston makes the event even more impactful, because their work aligns beautifully with the heart of what this night represents.”
Girls on the Run Greater Houston delivers evidence-based programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grade, using physical activity, mentorship, and social-emotional learning to build confidence, resilience, and leadership. Their programs reach schools and communities across the Greater Houston area, including the Heights, and ensure that all girls—including those in underserved areas—have access to tools that help them grow and thrive.
“When adults show up for girls, girls learn that they are worth showing up for. That simple truth can change a girl’s life, and it’s exactly what this partnership celebrates,” said Executive Director of Girls on the Run Greater Houston Michelle Nasser De La Torre. “I love that this event brings father figures out for an enchanted night with their girls — reminding them that confidence starts with connection and that every moment of presence plants a seed of strength.”
All proceeds and sponsorships from An Emerald Evening will support Girls on the Run Greater Houston’s programs, scholarships, volunteer training, and expansion into more local schools. The event is expected to welcome hundreds of families from across the Heights and surrounding communities.
Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to support the event through sponsorships, donations, and community partnerships. Opportunities for recognition include promotional materials, on-site visibility, and other community-facing benefits.
“This is an event created by the community, for the community,” said Donovan. “Our hope is to build a tradition that strengthens families today while empowering the next generation of confident young leaders. We’re excited to see the Heights come together for a night that truly makes an impact.”
